KG George

KG-George-profileThe chief apostle of the New Cinema movement in Malayalam cinema, KG George’s filmography is equally cerebral as it is commercial. Redefining middle-stream cinema, his movies as a director have been characterised by daring collaborations, techniques and ensemble casts that have proved to be huge commercial successes as well as milestones in Malayalam cinema, starting with his debut film Swapnadanam (1975).

KG George also gave Bharat Gopy one of his finest roles onscreen- as tablist Ayyappan in the seminal Yavanika (1982). He also considered Bharat Gopy as his favorite actor among all he has ever collaborated with, in his career as a film maker.

The following warm tribute forms a part of KG George’s memoirs as a film maker, “Flashback : Enteyum Cinemayudeyum” released in November 2012, published by DC Books.
