Rasathanthram (2006)
“Chemistry” – (Lit. Translation)Written and directed by Sathyan Anthikkad, with Meera Jasmine, Mohanlal and Bharat Gopy in lead roles, this would be Gopy’s last film with Sathyan Anthikkad, a fitting finale to an oeuvre, impressive in range and straddling across timelines, which started with Appunni. Rasathanthram also won Sathyan Anthikkad the Mathrubhumi Best Director Award.

Premachandran is a carpenter leading a peaceful life with his father. He is popular and has a regular list of clients. One night, he intercepts a young lady about to commit suicide. She turns out to be the domestic help of a family he knows. He gets her to impersonate a male in order to avoid suspicion and takes her home. His father dotes on this new domestic help. Premachandran and his father are bound by a bitter past and a murder, the consequences of which still haunt them. Things turn topsy turvy as the young lady’s cover is blown, and the law arrives to take her away for rehabilitation.
